ENGLISH LITERARY ASSOCIATION 2017-18

The Academic Year 2017-18 saw English Literary Association (ELA) organise two major competitions, which were essentially innovative, stimulating and challenging. Student members also took an extra effort by preparing posters and charts on various aspects of the English language, which was indeed notable. In addition, some students also won numerous prizes in literary competitions organised by other colleges and made our college proud

EVENT : Story Telling,Poerty writing, Treasure Hunt by ELA

The English Literary Association  and the Library Advisory Committee jointly organised three competitions i.e. Story writing, Poetry writing and Treasure Hunt on Thursday, 01 August,2019 in the state -of- art college Library at 11.30 am. The competition saw a huge turn out of 40  teams, each comprising of 4 people   for Treasure Hunt based on  the knowledge of books in the library. The learners fond of writing, submitted  original 25 stories and 20 poems.There were five elimination rounds in Treasure Hunt based on English language and finally the treasure was found by the students of S.Y. BAF.

EVENT : A Tour to the Library for English Extravaganza

The English Literary Association and Library Advisory Committee jointly organized ‘A Tour to the Library for English Extravaganza’ on Friday, 01st February, 2019. The venue justifiably, was the newly renovated college library. The programme was inaugurated by I/C Principal

Prof. Swiddle D'Cunha and was organised, attended and made successful by B. Com. Students almost singlehandedly. Students participated spiritedly and emerged with flying colours.

There were pronunciation challenge, word war, vocabulary challenge (naming spices, kitchen articles and objects) and Speak Box that tested students' knowledge, enthusiasm and willingness to learn new things in English.

The games rounded off with a tour to every part of the library which was ably conducted by the Students Library Advisory Committee (SLAC) members. 

All the visitors were requested to give their feedback at the exit, and the lovely members of the ELA and SLAC were appreciated by the entire staff for their superior efforts and creativity.

 

EVENT : CORPORATE LAWYER- A CASE-BASED DEBATE COMPETITION

The ELA organised Your World, Your Words, a creative writing and poetry competition on Wednesday, 27th September, 2017. In the competition, a diverse mix of vibrant and sombre images and objects were displayed for participants to view, based on which they were to write prose or poetry on. The participants from across programmes exhibited their writing skills by writing prose (essay, story, article, write-up or any other form of narrative). A record 90 original entries were received for the competition, which was indeed heartening.
