The Department of BAMMC has organised a seminar titled "Art of Movie Reviewing", on Wednesday, 16th July 2025 at 10:00 am for the students in the college auditorium. The event was conducted as part of the department’s ongoing efforts to provide experiential learning opportunities and foster critical thinking through cinema.
The speaker for the session was Ms. Dhaval Roy, a senior journalist, noted film reviewer, and creative content writer. With her extensive experience in media and film critique, Ms. Roy shared valuable insights into the techniques and nuances of reviewing films. She elaborated on key elements such as narrative analysis, technical appreciation, objectivity in critique, and writing styles suited for different platforms — from print media to social media.
The seminar also highlighted the growing importance of digital film reviewing and how students can leverage platforms like blogs, YouTube, and Instagram to build a personal brand as reviewers. Ms. Roy further guided students on how to evaluate films beyond entertainment — examining their cultural, social, and artistic impact.
An interactive Q&A session followed the talk, where students posed thoughtful questions and received practical advice on pursuing reviewing as a career path. The seminar proved to be highly informative, encouraging students to view cinema through a more analytical and professional lens.
