The Department of English Literary Association organised an Essay Writing and Open Mic competition in English, Hindi and Marathi Languages on 12th August 2024 at 11 am onwards. The event aimed to provide a platform for students to showcase their literary talents and public speaking skills.It attracted participants from various departments, creating an engaging and dynamic atmosphere.The Essay Writing Competition was held in the morning session. The theme of the competition was " Youth Day". Participants were given half an hour to write an essay of 250 words.A total of 46 students participated, in Essay Writing Competition displaying a wide range of perspectives and ideas.The Open Mic Competition took place in the morning session.The event was open to all forms of self-expression, allowing students to share their thoughts, experiences and creativity with a live audience. A total of 18 students participated, in Open Mic Competition displaying a wide range of perspectives and ideas.64 students participated from all programs.Outcome: The Essay Writing and Open Mic Competition was a resounding success, with enthusiastic participation and positive feedback from both participants and the audience.The event not only highlighted the literary and oratory skills of the students but also fostered a sense of community and creative expression within the college.

The English Literary Association hosted English Fest, a fun-filled and stimulating English language and communication based event, exclusively for First Year learners of all programs.The event, held on Monday, 03rd July, 2024 and Tuesday, 04th July, 2024, was crafted as an icebreaker to welcome the First Year learners warmly to the degree college.

All the participants showed great enthusiasm and enjoyed the event thoroughly. The English Literary Association organized a seminar titled "AI in Education: Transformative Tools for Tomorrow's Learners" on Monday, 24th June 2024 at 11:30 a.m.The event aimed to explore the impact of Artificial Intelligence (AI) on education and how these technologies can be harnessed to enhance learning experiences. The seminar included interactive sessions where attendees could experience AI tools firsthand. This seminar demonstrated how AI can tailor educational content to meet individual student needs. AI websites like Grammarly, QillBot, Canva, and many more were discussed. The seminar successfully highlighted the transformative potential of AI in education, inspiring students to explore and implement AI-driven tools in their respective fields. The event saw enthusiastic participation from both students and teachers of various programs. A total of 65 students benefited from the event.
The English Literary Association organized an Open Mic Competition titled "Loquitur'' on Saturday, September 16th, 2023 in block no. 706. Ms. Aparna Jadav, Assistant Professor, felicitated the guest of honor at 11:30 a.m., and Ms. Zeal Kanani, Assistant Professor, introduced Mr. Vaibhav Agrawal, an alumnus (Batch 2021 - 22). Sir is currently working as a Senior Defense Journalist and Deputy editor, who was the judge for the competition. "Loquitur'' aimed to promote free thought, information, speech, and expression by providing students with a platform to share their perspectives and ideas. Participants were able to showcase their talents through spoken word and other creative forms in a supportive and safe environment that encouraged connection and community. Events like "Loquitur'' play an important role in providing an opportunity to youngsters to share their opinions on various trending topics.

The English Literary Association (ELA) organized an engaging and intellectually stimulating Essay Writing Competition on Monday, 07th August 2023 at 11:00 a.m. in Block No. 710.
The competition drew a diverse range of students from various disciplines. Participants submitted their essays within a stipulated time frame, showcasing their analytical abilities, research skills, and creativity. Essays were evaluated based on content, originality, coherence, structure, and adherence to the topic. This opportunity allowed participants to have their work recognized on a broader scale.
Topics for the Essay Writing Competition were as follows:
1) Yoga - In a busy world
2) Gender equality - A need
3) Human trafficking - A threat
The competition achieved several significant outcomes:
The students' discussion of these topics and education on them served as a potent tool for their own development and for making a difference in the world. By educating themselves and engaging in productive conversations, they became more empathetic, open-minded, and informed individuals. By participating in the competition they were able to build the skills and resilience they need to navigate the complexities of the world around them.
Apart from this, the competition encouraged participants to explore various angles of the topic, leading to a rich collection of essays with diverse viewpoints. It recognized and celebrated the talent of emerging writers, boosting their confidence and motivation to further pursue writing.

The Department of Business Communication and English Literary Association organized its first unique competition for the students to boost their confidence and to test themselves, ‘Crack the Interview’ on Tuesday, 20 July, 2021 from 5.00pm on Zoom.
Interested students were required to respond to a given advertisement by mailing a job application and a resume to a created official email ID. 15 Students from all streams mailed their applications and resumes for the post of Project Officer (as per the advertisement). A grooming session was conducted on 19 July 2021 to train them for the final competition.
The panelists for the interview were Dr. Vijaya Jacqueline, Dr Monika John, CA Día Mukherjee, and Mr. Jenold Misquitta. 12 Students out of 15 appeared for the interview and gained real experience in a Panel Interview through this competition. There were Cash prizes of Rs. 800, 600, and 500 with certificates for the winners, and participation certificates for all those who had mailed their applications and resumes.

The IQAC, English Literary Association and Department of Business
Communication of our college in collaboration with Habitat For
Humanity India, an international NGO, organized a One Day National
Level Leadership Webinar on the topic “Pathway to Permanence by
Empowering, Equipping and Engaging Influencers- Post Lockdown” on
Tuesday, 26 May, 2020, from 11.00am to 12.30pm. 542 participants
registered from all over India and joined the webinar on zoom as well
as on FB via live streaming.
The Webinar was addressed by I/C Principal Ms Swiddle D’Cunha, Mr.
Rajan Samuel, MD, Habitat India, Resource Persons – Ms Apoorva
Poojary, National Manager, Youth Partnership and Engagement, HFH , Ms
Sophia Joseph, Associate Director, Behavioral Change Communication,
HFH. The program was hosted by Dr Monika John, also the convenor of
the Webinar. The preparations and planning of the program was well
guided and supervised by IQAC Coordinator Dr Poonam Kakkad. The
organizing team also had Ms Vaishali Mishra, Ms Sumathi Rajkumar, Mr
Vikas Agarwal, Ms Bhakti Choudhary, Mr Pradeep Gotekar and Ms Venisri
Shetty. There are certificates for all the registered participants.

The English Literary Association and Library Advisory Committee jointly organized ‘A Tour to the Library for English Extravaganza’ on Friday, 01st February, 2019. The venue justifiably, was the newly renovated college library. The programme was inaugurated by I/C PrincipalProf. Swiddle D'Cunha and was organised, attended and made successful by B. Com. Students almost singlehandedly. Students participated spiritedly and emerged with flying colours.There were pronunciation challenge, word war, vocabulary challenge (naming spices, kitchen articles and objects) and Speak Box that tested students' knowledge, enthusiasm and willingness to learn new things in English.The games rounded off with a tour to every part of the library which was ably conducted by the Students Library Advisory Committee (SLAC) members. All the visitors were requested to give their feedback at the exit, and the lovely members of the ELA and SLAC were appreciated by the entire staff for their superior efforts and creativity.

The participants from across programmes exhibited their writing skills by writing prose (essay, story, article, write-up or any other form of narrative). A record 90 original entries were received for the competition, which was indeed heartening.
