Nature’s Club successfully hosted the Best out of Waste Competition titled as "Green Creations: Waste to Wonder" on Tuesday, 20th August 2024. The event, centered around the principles of reduce, reuse, and recycle, saw enthusiastic participation of 21 students who demonstrated exceptional creativity and environmental awareness.Participants transformed waste materials such as tetra packs, bottles, newspapers, and old utensils into useful products within the allotted 1.5 hours. The competition was judged by Ms. Harisha Prajapati, a teacher at Nirmala English School and an expert in art and craft. The useful products made by participants were evaluated based on creativity, originality, and environmental impact.The winners were honored with medals and e-certificates. The First Position was won by Mr. Melwin Saji from FYBAF, who was awarded a Gold Medal. The Second Position was secured by Mr. Sujal Maurya from FYBAF, who received a Silver Medal. The Third Position was claimed by Ms. Riva Bejjanki from FYBAF, who earned a Bronze Medal. All participants received e-certificates in recognition of their commitment to sustainability.
Nature’s Club and NSS Unit of the college organized Vanmohatsav from Monday, 1 st July 2024 to Saturday, 6 th July 2024. The volunteers were engaged in making saplings out of seeds collected by them during summer vacation. 60 saplings were made by volunteers. Also, a group of volunteers performed a street play on the topic of “Preserving the environment and having sustainable life”. The skit was presented at Shivaji Maidan, Poisar to generate awareness among the masses. Around 10 volunteers were part of the skit and it was highly appreciated by the public.
On 22nd June 2024, The Nature’s Club of Nirmala Memorial Foundation College Of Commerce and Science successfully organized an event titled "Utility Out of Waste.There were total 25 participants.. This event aimed to promote environmental awareness and equip students with the skills to transform waste materials into useful objects.
OUTCOMES
Enhanced Environmental Awareness: The event served as a platform to educate students about the detrimental effects of waste generation and the importance of adopting sustainable practices. Students gained insights into waste reduction, reuse, and recycling strategies.Creative Upcycling Skills: Through interactive workshops and demonstrations, students learned various techniques for up cycling waste materials like plastic bottles, old newspapers, and cardboard boxes. This fostered creativity and encouraged them to view waste as a potential resource.
CONCLUSION
The Nature Club's "Utility Out of Waste" event proved to be a resounding success. It not only equipped students with upcycling skills but also instilled a sense of environmental responsibility. The event's impact extended beyond the participants, fostering a more sustainable mindset within the college community. By encouraging creative reuse of waste, the Nature’s Club has taken a significant step towards promoting a cleaner and greener future.
The Nature’s Club of our college organized the “Eco-friendly Ganpati Making Competition” on Thursday, 14th September 2023, from 11:30 am to 1:00 pm. A total of 20 students participated in the competition. Students created various Ganpati idols using different eco-friendly materials such as red soil, flour, clay, etc., channeling their creative ideas to make the deities more lifelike and vibrant. Dr. Rupali Wadkar served as the judge for the event.
At the conclusion of the competition, the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and consolation prize winners were presented with medals and certificates. Additionally, participants received e-certificates. It was an unforgettable program for all the participants.

Nature's Club organized a best-out-of-waste competition titled “Trash To Treasures: Home Decor Reimagined!" on Friday, 11th August 2023 at 11:15 a.m. in block numbers 704 and 705. This event aimed to promote creativity, innovation, and environmental awareness by encouraging participants to repurpose discarded materials into useful and artistic creations. Apart from promoting creativity, the competition emphasized the importance of waste reduction and recycling. A total of 43 students registered and benefited from the program.

Beach Cleaning was conducted on 11th December, 2022 to clean the wet lands at Juhu tara Road, Vile parle (W). Around 07 volunteers participated in the same.
One Gobble Mix Bin was placed in the college to make awareness about the organic waste and generate it. Wet waste from the college canteen is collected and then put in the bin where it decomposes and further turns into rich manure.
40 plants were planted in the pots which were then placed on the college back gate. 04 plants were planted in the pots which were then placed on the college front gate. These was with the objective of adding Green Element in the College Campus.
16 Bins (08 Dry + 08 Wet) were placed in the college floors to make awareness about the dry and wet waste and manage it. For easy disposal the waste segregation was undertaken.
Beach Cleaning was conducted on 16th October, 2022 to clean the wet lands at Carter Road, Bandra (W). Around 09 volunteers participated in the same.
30 plants were planted in the pots which were then placed on the college library window. 04 plants were also planted in the college’s Chowk. These was with the objective of adding Green Element in the College Campus.
The Nature’s Club undertook E-waste Management by creating awareness about e-waste and collection of the same. A Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) was signed with ‘The Recycling Company’ (THRECO) for safe disposal of e-waste.
College conducted Energy, Environment and Green Audit for the academic year 2022-23. The contact was given to Saur Engineers and Consultancy. The firm presented the energy audit report.
