Overview

The Bachelor of Science in Computer Science program (FY, SY, and TY), designed in accordance with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, offers a comprehensive, flexible, and multidisciplinary curriculum aimed at developing strong academic foundations along with industry-relevant skills. The program is structured to ensure a gradual transition from basic concepts to advanced specialization, enabling students to adapt to the rapidly evolving technological landscape. NEP’s emphasis on skill development, experiential learning, and interdisciplinary education is reflected through the inclusion of vocational courses, skill enhancement subjects, and project-based learning. The curriculum not only focuses on technical knowledge but also integrates communication, environmental awareness, and value-based education to ensure holistic student development.

In the first year (FY), the program lays a strong foundation in core areas such as programming using Python, database systems, digital systems and architecture, and introductory statistics. Students are also exposed to communication skills, financial literacy, and environmental studies, ensuring a balanced academic structure. Moving into the second year (SY), the curriculum strengthens both theoretical understanding and practical application through subjects like Data Structures, Operating Systems, Theory of Computation, Computer Networks, and Software Engineering. Additionally, students gain hands-on experience with technologies such as Java programming, mobile application development, IoT, and MEAN stack development, which enhance their coding proficiency and problem-solving abilities.

In the third year (TY), the program focuses on specialization and advanced technological domains, preparing students for industry and research-oriented careers. Students explore emerging fields such as Artificial Intelligence, Information Security, Data Science, Big Data Analytics, Cybersecurity, and Machine Learning. The curriculum also includes elective subjects like Blockchain, Ethical Hacking, and Information Retrieval, allowing students to tailor their learning based on their interests. Practical exposure is a key component at this stage, with lab work, field projects, and On-the-Job Training (OJT) ensuring real-world application of theoretical knowledge. Full-stack web development courses further equip students with end-to-end development skills, making them industry-ready professionals.

Overall, the program adopts a holistic and outcome-based learning approach that integrates theoretical concepts with practical implementation. It emphasizes the development of analytical thinking, problem-solving skills, teamwork, and effective communication. Through continuous assessment, project work, and exposure to modern tools and technologies, students are prepared to meet industry demands and global standards. The program not only opens pathways for employment in diverse IT domains but also encourages higher studies and research. Ultimately, it aims to nurture competent, ethical, and innovative professionals who are capable of lifelong learning and contributing effectively to the dynamic field of computer science.
