As a part of the External Assessment for the Co-curricular subject “Cultural Expressions through Cinema, TV and Theatre”, the Department of B Com and BAMMC organized a seminar titled “TV Serials and Web Series as Opinion Shapers” for the learners of Second Year B.Com and BAMMC.
The seminar was conducted on 16th January, 2026, and students were asked to report at 11:00 a.m. The session was delivered by Dr. Shilpa Gaur Bhargava, Professor, JSPM’s Rajarshi Shahu College of Engineering, Pune, Maharashtra.
The speaker elaborated on how narratives presented in serials and web series can influence attitudes related to gender roles, family structures, politics, consumer behavior, and social awareness. Real-life examples and popular media references were used to make the session engaging and relatable for students. The seminar also emphasized the responsibility of content creators in shaping informed and ethical viewpoints.
The seminar was informative and thought-provoking and successfully met its academic objectives. It contributed significantly to the learners’ understanding of media as a powerful tool of cultural and social influence. The Departments expressed their sincere gratitude to Dr. Shilpa Gaur Bhargava for sharing her expertise and making the seminar an enriching learning experience.
