Department of Data Science

1. Overview

The Department of Data Science conducted a Bridge Course in Mathematics and Statistics for F.Y.B.Sc. Data Science students (2025–26), as per University of Mumbai guidelines under Ordinance No. 6606. The course was intended for students who had not opted for Mathematics at the Class XII level to ensure their eligibility and preparedness for the Data Science programme.

2. Course Details

Duration: 19th June 2025 to 4th July 2025
Total Hours: 30 hours (2 hours per topic)
Venue: Block No. 606
Time: 7:30 am to 9:30 am

Topics Covered:

Key foundational topics such as Introduction to Data Science, Visualization Techniques, Measures of Central Tendency and Dispersion, Probability, Vectors and Matrices, Linear Algebra, Correlation, Regression, and Polynomial Regression were covered.

3. Examination

A 50-mark exam was conducted on 7th July 2025, assessing understanding across all topics.

4. Outcome

The Bridge Course effectively:

Strengthened students’ basic mathematical and statistical skills.
Enhanced analytical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
Ensured academic eligibility for B.Sc. Data Science admissions.

Students actively participated and expressed positive feedback regarding the clarity and usefulness of the sessions.
