Akash is a young adult who knows his goals, is actively working towards them and consistently follows healthy habits to keep himself in check for the long run. He is keen to learn, shares knowledge, is curious, consciously accepts optimism and cares for the mentors that he finds around himself. Self-leadership is the ability to lead yourself to achieve your personal and professional goals and objectives, making your own’s decisions and owning up to your own actions. How can you be the leader of your life? Here are some tips!
1. Surround yourself with people who will teach you. Mentors, teachers, and field experts are all people who are smarter and more experienced than you. They will encourage growth and continually inspire you to learn or do something new.
2. Get out of your comfort zone. It is crucial you step out of your rundowns and couches and work towards something.
3. Set goals for your life. They may include short-term goals, yearly goals, 5-year goals and lifetime goals. Once you have your destination, it is easier to track a path down back to where you stand today. It will give your journey a push and start in the correct direction.
4. You’re constantly setting an example for someone around you, with or without realizing it. Send across the message that you live by and believe in. Lead as such. 5. Be fearless. Teach yourself to be brave, risk-taking daring and bold. To lead your life, you must be ready to face failures and have the will to get back up again.
6. Encourage and embrace new ideas and experiences. You live life once. Don’t shy away from opportunities and possibilities. Be the first person to do something.
7. Understand that a leader does not shy away from seeking help or advice from others. Honour the people around you and have them alongside you in your journey. They will come, go and be as they please but acknowledge their presence because each person we meet shapes our life path.
8. It is essential to realize that we need to do what is correct for us, not what is easy to do. The easier path might sometimes be the right one but when it isn’t we need to step out and take the difficult path - only for our own benefit. Have integrity and ethics, to be honest with yourself. Embrace being human and being imperfect.
9. Be a curious listener and learner. Sticking to the same ideas, and beliefs and narrowing down our range of sight can never help us lead our own life. We are social beings and to live in this world, we need to learn multiple point-of-views. The leader in you will know how to decide your own perspective on things.
10. Look for beauty in the smallest of things and be grateful every day for the life you have. Gratitude will always take you ahead. It is gratitude that will make you sleep well at night, regardless of how successful you are.
11. Be empathetic towards yourself and others. It is okay to make mistakes. What is important is how you learn from it.
12. Plan and be flexible enough to face anything unavoidable that might disrupt your plan. Life is not a scheduled movie or show time. Emergencies can always come up. Train yourself to be prepared.
13. Build healthier habits such as journaling, exercising, meditating, eating healthy, etc. Hope this helps you. Cheers to being the leader of your own life!
